Student Health Force Mobilized as National Pandemic Prevention Flu Resource

Dr. Rob Gillio, Chief Medical Officer of the Student Health Force is issuing an ALERT and call to action for all students to become Flu Prevention Experts. Students are needed to be the leaders in flu prevention. Schools are a prime location for rapid spread through a community. It's up to the students to prevent spread of the flu. Anyone can get flu germs and spread them to others. The flu can also be stopped dead in its tracks and contained if a community follows these simple steps.

  • Wash your hands frequently, especially when they are in contact with your mouth, nose, or if you sneeze into them
  • Cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough, using your sleeve if necessary
  • Isolate yourself if you are sick and avoid shaking hands and large gatherings of people.

Germs spread through respiratory droplets in the air and on the hands. Frequent effective hand washing and covering your mouth when coughing can help prevent the spread of germs. If you become ill, it is best to isolate yourself and seek medical attention for fever, cough, and muscle aches.
